PROPRIOCEPTIVE DEEP TENDON REFLEX

What is Proprioceptive Deep Tendon Reflex?

Proprioceptive Deep Tendon Reflex (P-DTR) is a technique that falls under the scope of practice of massage therapy. P-DTR uses the compensation theory to look at the body’s receptors signaling. In an initial appointment there is a thorough assessment, this helps the therapist to understand the mechanisms behind the symptoms, and therefore determine what the most effective treatment would be. The treatment alters the threshold of receptor sensitivity back to its original baseline state.
